About Us

Our Story

My name is Ralph Dill; I am 66 years young. I've spent most of my working life making things. I've also spent time in the service and catering industries and still have a passion for both cooking and an engaging conversation with a stranger. I have fiddled with woodwork, plumbing, construction, just about everything which involves simple yet gratuitous outcomes

I was at a crossroads some decades ago, given the option of joining the corporate space in the motoring industry or following a dream. As unfulfilled as it is, I still love the idea, sailing around the world with my family. I have sailed extensively as I thought this would be a great way to learn about building boats and vice versa. In the 80’s I joined John Robertson Yachts as a general worker. From there to technical fitter, to production line manager and procurement strategy

Soon I moved on, and on, and in 2004 I landed up at Stealth Yachts, and before long joined the board as managing director. In 2019 I resigned from this board and became an independent consultant, even consulting for my former employer. It did not take long for the pressure to mount, and I found myself registering my own company, and here I am

Why ‘Cormorant Marine’?

Our Name

When I started out, I wanted a unique identity. As a bird lover and a sailor, it had to be something marine. The Cormorant is a resilient bird, and one of the few that swims without having oiled plumage, a bird that hunts under water, and is very adaptive. All these characteristics are how I see my company’s character

Not sure this needs any elaboration. In our game we need to constantly overcome challenges, thus craft solutions, we craft these, not just identify them. We create our client’s dreams, and we love to exceed expectations
